February 14, 2012

Valentine’s day. The day when single people stay at home and sulk , or if we (Yea, we. Because I’m part of the club) went out, everything seems to be specially made for couples which makes us feel unloved. I kid. This is also the day when people who are in a relationship spend time with the person they love and do ridiculously cute stunts. Ahh well, single or not, this day is about the sweetest gift life can offer us - love.

Unlike last year, I woke up early and met up with Mavy at school. We talked for about an hour before we left to eat breakfast at McDonald’s. On the way to SM Manila, we saw a couple of vendor’s selling flowers and heart shaped balloons. I wanted to feel ~*special*~ in a way so I bought myself a balloon and so did Mavy. Hahaha! Tse. We spent at least 2 hours burning our chair’s, talking about random things in our minds and eating. After that, we roamed around the mall and went to Goldilocks to buy cake for her family which is a sweet gesture. As soon as she got her order, we went to Book Sale and got drifted away from reality.

While walking around the mall, I could not help myself from noticing that people, seem pressured in meeting people. I noticed that they make sure they make eye contact with every person they pass by and hold on to your gaze for more than five seconds which is unlikely to happen during the regular day where stuff toys and flowers can’t be seen in just any corner. Teary eyed girls/boys and third wheel’ed friends is also a normal sight today. Friends hang around until the manliligaw and the nililigawan can be left alone. Sweet. Gesture’s of love can’t only be seen at the mall, or the street, I also found it at school like the following:

  • There was this one guy who had his guitar with him and visited different rooms to sing with two of his girl classmate’s.
  • Bouquet giving during class hour’s. Involves plenty of screams from classmates.
  • Free Photo Booth with free flowers give away. Naks.
  • And the most sweet stunt as of today, a guy was brought to the school field by a Kalesa and fetched his girlfriend. Wow. Talk about quezoness.

Ahh. Love. We give and receive it everyday. We can express it not only through flowers, chocolates and teddy bears but through words, getures and feelings. Let’s cherish this gift and give thanks for being able to spend time with the people we love.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
